Live Below the Line 2014: Day 3 – 97p and a happy hump day

I have signed up for Live Below The Line from 28 April to 2 May, hoping to raise funds for ChildHope. You can help either by joining or by sponsoring me here.

The challenge for Day 3 is our client event at night. Think: free food + free booze + free everything. Torture. Absolute torture.

After Day 2’s disastrous power nap I was looking forward to eating properly on Day 3.

I made two big portions of mixed casserole veggies (40p) and two oven-cooked veggie sausages (18p) and cous cous (27p). I didn’t want to feel depressed about my food more than I already was so I finally caved in and allocated a bit of my 9p change from the £5-worth groceries for some salt, pepper, and cayenne powder (3p). Overall, a total of 88p for brunch and dinner. Not bad. I liked it better than Day 1’s veggie casserole.

My stomach was absolutely killing it by the time I got to work. I was ready to inhale my banana (9p) when my phone started ringing and work pretty much took over my mind. I had my lunch at around 12pm and it was a really good meal, all things considered. It kept me full for ages.

By 3pm my stomach was giving me a slight tickle again. It was going to be a long night and I had to plan and schedule eating time properly. I asked my colleague to keep my banana away from me until 4pm.

I wanted it back by 3:15. She said no.

When I got my banana back, I wanted to dance like a cheeky monkey during feeding time at the zoo. I peeled the banana and halved it as I always do. Had to pick up a call so I put my banana aside. After the call I stupidly nudged my bloody banana off my desk and it went on a chute-less dive to the floor. @£$%^&*!!! I screamed “NOOOOOOOO!!!” I managed to catch the damn thing and was so relieved… until I realised that half of it was still on the floor, resting in piece. #hungerequalstheworstpuns

Our client event was a hit. I didn’t really feel as bothered as I thought I was going to be. I asked for water (which the served with a wedge of lime). Kids, this is actually a lesson that you don’t need alcohol to have a great time.

When I was looking at the menu I’ve noticed that one small nibbling plate (it’s really tiny) was worth £4.50 – That’s 90% of my weekly budget this week!

Reheated my dinner when I came home and fell asleep on the couch whilst watching Game of Thrones. Ahhh. Pretty good hump day.

Overall spendage for the day: 97p
Overall belly factor: Very satisfied – I drank so much water!
Overall feeling: ’twas pretty much a normal working day after all. Happy.
