Live Below The Line 2014: Day 4 – 66p and the penultimate day

I have signed up for Live Below The Line from 28 April to 2 May, hoping to raise funds for ChildHope. You can help either by joining or by sponsoring me here.

I’ve been having more chats with friends about the campaign and I feel rather encouraged and hopeful. Awareness of the problem is one thing but awareness of how you can help rectify it is another.

Brunch was the usual mini-baguette (9p) with 4 garlic sausages (20p) and some ‘lettuce’ leaves (3p) plus tea (3 bags for 1p). I would be VERY happy to not eat this anytime soon. A sarnie sans butter seems so very wrong. I had a banana (9p) at 4pm and it was gone in thirty seconds. Literally.

I didn’t know what to have for dinner as my mind was fried. I just made a big serving of boiled mixed casserole vegetables (40p), oven-cooked sausages for protein (18p) and mixed it with some gravy (4p). It seemed like a portion good for three servings so I scooped a third of it (21p) into some ‘lettuce’ leaves (3p) and had that for dinner. I saved the rest for Day 5.

I’ve been reflecting on the past four days. Much as I am looking forward to the day I return to normalcy, I can’t help but think about the people who still live below the line. As of writing the UK campaign has raised £459,755. That’s no way near enough to feed 1.2 billion people but I guess every little helps.

Overall spend for the day: 66p
Overall belly factor: Less hunger pangs!
Overall feeling: Calm. This. Is. It.
