I do love a tasting menu, don’t you? Some of the epic ones I’ve tried so far include Lasarte at the Monument Hotel and Moments at the Mandarin Oriental in Barcelona, as well as Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester in London. But seriously guys, if you could have a tasting menu of the globe, that would be SUPERDUPER epic, no?
This month’s travel link-up allows us to be master chefs of the ultimate menu: an itinerary for traveling the world.
AMUSE BOUCHE: MOROCCO
Something spicy and exotic to entice your tastebuds? Morocco is the way! I’ve always thought this country was an all-sensory stimulant with its massive offering of tastes, colours, textures, scents, and sounds. Morocco has made me want to travel more – to explore cultures, learn how to communicate beyond words, be out of my comfort zone, and keep grounded.
When the moon hits your eyes… like a big pizza pie… ahhh Rome. It’s become one of my fave cities in Europe recently. With its massive role in history and civilization and its nod to the modern times, I can’t help but think that the eternal city is a bite of the world in its own right. It is after all, where kings fought kings and empires fought empires. It’s an old modern day world.
I like my mains hearty, and that’s what Asia does to me. The Philippines will always take me to a comforting spot where familial ties shine bright like its crystal clear emerald islands. Hong Kong will always be a family fave, with its hectic shifts and shopping zones. Singapore will always have a place in my heart.
DESSERTS: THE FRENCH RIVIERA
I like my desserts boldly indulgent (Hi, I’m Honey and I’m a chocoholic) hence the lovely Cote d’Azur is just befitting. Whether it be lounging at a resort in Saint-Tropez, trekking in Cassis, or lounging by the Ritz in Cannes, there’s a certain feel about the French Riviera that makes one think of Jordi Labanda illustrations, chilled out sunshiney people and glorious alcoholic drinks a la piscine.
PETIT FOURS: BARCELONA
The beach, the park, the cathedrals, the cool hipster area, the chic shopping street, the buzzling markets, the refined museums… Well, there’s always a little bit of everything in Barcelona, don’t you think? Hence it makes the perfect city representing petit fours.
And that concludes my little travel menu. *BURP*
I quite enjoyed our travel link up topic this month… isn’t the craving for wanderlust just so hard to satiate?
